On Saturday, 4/19/08, thousands of automotive enthusiasts from across the Mid-Atlantic area converged at the Dulles Expo Center for a night of automotive bliss. Part car-show, part nightclub - Hot Import Nights is billed as a one-of-a-kind pop culture experience, and this year’s event did not disappoint. Free NOS energy drinks helped energized the crowd and kept the party going till midnight. Which is a good thing, because there was plenty to see and do in the North and South halls of the expo center.

With hundreds of show cars on display, there was a little something of everyone – Euros to sport bikes, American muscle to Japanese tuners. But there was definitely one new trend that was consistent across all makes and models: big brake kits. It seems the tuners and the show-ers have finally caught on to what the road racers have known all along: big honking stoppers are where it’s at. All the serious cars were sporting the latest and hottest calipers and rotors from companies like Brembo, Stoptech, etc. There were also some daring custom setups like an import sporting good old American C6 Z06 brakes.
And those big beefy brakes are pretty much a necessity now, considering that most of the cars were also packing some form of power adder. Row after row of twin turbo, supercharged, and NOS equipped cars was enough to give even the most hardcore HP junkies their fix.
Overall there was a good mix of cars represented at HIN, from luxury to full-on racecars. There were even some ultra high-end, exotic Italian models on hand to drool over. And speaking of models to drool over, the sexy ladies were out in full force! Many booths were overflowing with hot spokes models eager to sign autographs or strike a seductive pose for their fans. With so much T-N-A on display, most guys felt like a kid in an eye candy store, and it was hard not to get distracted. With testosterone pumping, many guys stepped up to take the Marine Corp and National Guard chin-up challenge. 20 reps got you a free T-shirt, and the top dog for the night did over 30.
Out on the dance floor, the NOS girls really got things heated up with a little bump-n-grind dance routine. Several B-boys were on hand breakin’ things down, and the crowd stayed loud with the DJ’s spinning the latest in electric and hip-hop music. Year after year, Hot Import Nights continues to bring together the best elements of the automotive lifestyle. Hot cars and gorgeous women mixed together in an electrifying nightclub atmosphere creates the ultimate automotive party. It doesn’t get any better than that folks.
